Now that you have everything set up, its time to do the detailed planning that I talked about. Don’t just sit there and plan for the next six months! You should be out there selling during the day and planning the business at night (or vice versa if you business is a night club).
There are a few different uses for a business plan: - To get funding for a startup or expansion from investors
- To give your company direction, goals, and objectives
- To help potential partners and managers understand your business
- To begin to build relationships with potential vendors
Still not convinced you need a plan? There are many more uses for the business plan once it is written and you have been in business for a while. You will use it for keeping track of money, marketing decisions, hiring good help and more. Would you hire someone to write a business plan for you? I’ve seen many people that need a plan for funding, but don’t want anything to do with it. They simply want to throw some money at a professional and have him or her figure out their business based on an idea. This isn’t some college project that you can pay someone else to do- you actually need to do most of it yourself if you want any benefit from the plan. A professional can give you assistance and direction and help you get your plan into final form, but you need to do as much of the plan as you can before you get help. It’s your business, so the more business components you understand, the better off you will be. Here is what goes into the business plan: - Who are you and why are you going into business?
- What are you selling?
- Who is buying?
- How will you reach them?
- How will your company operate?
- How much money will you make?
- Who is in charge?
You could have gotten those business plan components off any number of websites or an intro-to-business textbook, I know. But, you will only get the right way to write it here- so stay tuned for details. No one has commented on this article. J! Reactions • General Site LicenseCopyright © 2006 S. A. DeCaro |
